Fall 2020 Student Textbook/Course Material Information

As is the case with everyone who works with the academic year, we have been increasingly concerned about Fall semester instruction and the safety of students and all the staff who support and instruct them. We have made some big changes to our usual textbook buying process this semester. Our store is closed to the public and all staff wear masks at all times on the floor of the store while handling books. Please note our Coronavirus Course Order Policy

All course book orders will be handled by web order through our website. Your instructor will send you a link to your course listing on our website. If you are sure you know what specific editions you need, you can order books without this resource. Please place a web order if possible rather than calling the store.We respond to web orders within 48 hours to update you on when you can expect the order to reach you. Depending on book availability, your web order may take a few days to a few weeks to reach you--please plan accordingly and order your books sooner rather than later! Place your web order by August 17th if you want the order to arrive by the first week of class.

We are currently not open to the public at all, and may not yet be open when classes begin, so students will not be able to walk in and buy books off our shelves as they have done in the past. To keep vestibule exposure and crowding down, we will be shipping all student web orders--no vestibule pickup will be available for course materials and student vestibule orders will be automatically converted to free shipping. Please enter the mailing address at which you will be able to receive books as of August 25th when you check out!

Student Shipping Is Free! Students should choose the Fall 2020 Student Shipping option at checkout. Books are sent Media Mail, which if the student is in Madison typically reaches them within two business days. We can ship anywhere in the United States, so distance learning students can also take advantage of this.

All sales are final. Please be sure you have the correct title and edition of the book as assigned for your course before you place your order, especially for books originally published before 1920. No returns will be accepted for wrong editions ordered, dropped classes or instructors changing their minds about an assigned title. The only circumstance under which we will accept a return is if the class is entirely canceled by the university and we have heard this from your instructor. This will not be the return policy for future semesters.

No Used or Bought Back Books: Due to staffing concerns and the logistics of social distancing, we will not be offering to buy back books right now, nor will we have used copies of books available in most cases. Prior years' students should plan to hang onto their books until Spring semester at the earliest to try re-selling their books at that time.
