Consignments at Room

Room accepts a certain number of consignment agreements from local and regional authors. As a community resource with limited shelf space we carefully consider the content of our shelves. Because of this, we will not be able to accept every consignment proposal we receive.

There are two ways to submit your book for consignment consideration. A press release with the details of your book is preferred.

  1. You may submit your book’s details and/or press release via email to consignment@roomofonesown.com. In the email subject line write: “CONSIGNMENT INQUIRY”. We accept .docx and/or .pdf files as attachments.
  2. If you prefer snail mail, you may submit your details via USPS to:

Room of One’s Own Bookstore
C/O Consignments
2717 Atwood Ave.
Madison, WI 53704

Do not send physical copies or drop off physical copies without first reaching out by email. We ask kindly that authors do not call the store or visit to pitch a consignment, as we are active with other projects and assisting customers during business hours. If you have any questions about the process or would like to set aside time to talk, you may email consignment@roomofonesown.com and someone will get back to you. Please do not inquire about events to this email, and instead send event inquiries to events@roomofonesown.com.

Are you a local author who is looking to stock your book, but not via consignment? You can still send an email as directed above. Make sure to note that you are not intending consignment, but rather hoping to have your book stocked. This is especially easy if your book is available via Ingram.
