Art Of Fielding By Chad Harbach

Yes, you will want to follow Henry and "Schwartzy" to the very end.  Henry and the gang capture the reader with their ernest  and youthful passion. The friendships and relationships in this novel keep the reader thoroughly invloved. Their paths come to a somewhat shocking and quirky finale, but you will be happy you stayed for the full show.

How to Brew by John J. Palmer

Having started my homebrew hobby (read: obsession) this summer, this book proves very informative for beginner and professional alike. Quick to get you started, this book has endless information about the fine points of brewing that will start you off right and then develop your skills later as you learn to craft to your own taste. Highly recommended!

Sea Change by S. M. Wheeler

Reading this book is like reading a traditional heroine's quest fantasy turned 90 degrees. Nothing quite happened the way I have been led to expect by countless plucky heroine stories before it. This is the story you find when you turn the shiny river stone over and see the beauty in the ugly, mossy black wet underside.

We Are All Completely Beside Ourselves by Karen Joy Fowler

On its surface, this is a story of a young woman reflecting on her unusual, now fractured, family. This is the work of a talented and skilled writer--often funny, frequently touching, always thoughtful. This one sticks with you.

The Tale of Raw Head and Bloody Bones by Jack Wolf

A breakout first novel by author Jack Wolf, this book is equal parts Sleepy Hallow meets American Psycho--- not as far as gore, mind you! (Title non-withstanding) Following 17th century anatomist-in-training Tristan Hart, magic meets the age of reason in a strange love story dripping with sadism, following an unreliable (and seemingly quite mad) narrator. Very memorable!

The Summer Prince by Alaya Dawn Johnson

This is one of those books that has it all. Great character, plot, pacing, wonderful worldbuilding, and oh yeah, did I mention it's set in a dystopic matriarchal future Brazil and explores questions of identity, body modification, art, politics, culture, and fame? Oh oh, and ALSO, most people are bisexual and it's not a big deal. This is everything I have been waiting for in a YA novel.
